The Joe Louis Greenway Partnership is seeking a Greenway Operations Coordinator to manage the day-to-day operations, maintenance, and event logistics for the Joe Louis Greenway, a 29-mile public space connecting 23 neighborhoods across Metro Detroit. This role ensures that the Greenway remains clean, safe, and welcoming for all visitors.
Key Responsibilities
Facilities and Grounds Maintenance
- Conduct routine inspections of the Greenway to identify maintenance needs.
- Perform landscaping, trash removal, and minor repairs to keep the Greenway clean and accessible.
- Work with partners to ensure proper maintenance and operation of the Greenway.
Event Logistics and Support
- Provide on-site logistical support for events, including event set-up, break-down, and vendor coordination.
- Ensure all events comply with permit requirements and safety regulations.
Community Engagement and Volunteer Coordination
- Serve as a primary contact for Greenway visitors, responding to inquiries and addressing concerns.
- Build relationships with community members, volunteers, and stakeholders to foster a sense of ownership and pride in the Greenway.
- Assist with community events and programming.
- Assist in recruiting, training, and managing volunteers for cleanup days, beautification projects, and public programming.
Procurement and Administrative Support
- Assist in purchasing materials and supplies needed for maintenance, repairs, and events.
- Research vendors, obtain quotes, and process purchase orders.
- Maintain operational records, budget tracking, and maintenance logs.
Qualifications
- 3-5 years of experience in facilities maintenance, public space operations, property management, or a related field.
- Knowledge of park maintenance and operations best practices.
- Strong community engagement and communication skills, with experience working with diverse stakeholders.
- Experience with event logistics, vendor coordination, and public space activation is preferred.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
- A valid driver's license and reliable transportation are required.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. and perform physical tasks related to grounds maintenance.
- Ability to walk, stand, and bend for extended periods.
- Comfortable working outdoors in various weather conditions.
