Our client, Pensole Lewis College of Business & Design (PLC Detroit), is a distinguished Historically Black College and University (HBCU) dedicated to redefining career pathways in design and business. We are assisting PLC Detroit in its search for a highly skilled and motivated Grants and Development Director.

Position Overview: The Grants and Development Director will lead strategic management and ensure compliance of PLC's grant portfolio. This role involves collaborating with the finance team to align financial strategies with grant and organizational objectives, emphasizing fiscal responsibility. The Grants and Development Director will also lead efforts to enhance fundraising, cultivate donor relationships, and manage grant calendars.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Grant Portfolio Management: Oversee the lifecycle of grants and major gifts from initiation to closure, ensuring alignment with strategic goals, strict compliance with regulations, and financial accountability.
  • Grant Development: Identify and pursue funding opportunities that align with PLC Detroit's focus on design, entrepreneurship, and the HBCU legacy. Craft compelling grant proposals utilizing a variety of grant models, including those from educational institutions, corporate sponsors, and non-profit alliances.
  • Compliance and Collaboration: Maintain rigorous compliance with all applicable regulations—Foster collaborative relationships with educational institutions and non-profit alliances to enhance mutual compliance and benefit from shared expertise.
  • Leadership: Serve as the essential link between development efforts and organizational leadership. Expand PLC Detroit’s funding base by leveraging its network within the HBCU community and the broader design and creative industries, emphasizing partnerships with non-profit alliances.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in relevant field; Master's preferred.
  • 4+ years in grant management and development with a successful funding track record.
  • Excellent communication and team leadership skills.
